He was born to ascend.

Cain has sacrificed everything for his people. He left the safety and security of his life of study to infiltrate the infamous Hades Hangmen. He lived with them, rode with them, and then betrayed them. All in the name of a faith he can now feel slipping away from him. Like everything else he once held dear…

But then his isolation is broken. Another prisoner is brought to the cell next to his. A woman fighting her own demons and fears. A woman who Cain understands needs him, as he needs her.

As the connection between them grows, so does Cain’s resolve. He will right the wrongs he has done. He will atone for the evil acts carried out in his name. He will save the one he loves…

… Even if the battle takes him to the gates of hell itself.

FLO'S REVIEW

Deep Redemption by Tillie Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 **prophet** STARS

I do not know how to review this book. All I can say is it was yet again bloody brilliant to read Tillie Cole's Hades Hangmen Series. Angst, heartache, utter devastation and so much emotion.

There is nothing about Cain/Rider's story I can tell you without spoiling the whole experience. I guess for people who read the book before, we know Cain was betrayed by his twin brother and this is the fallout. A look at what he has done, who he has become and his choices to move on. If he can get 'out'. If you love the series so far, this will be a no-brainer for you.

“I had been two men in my life. I was beginning to understand that neither of them were real.”

Regardless if you like the character of Cain or not, it is worth a read to see how the author deals with such a polarizing figure. Some might say any kind of redemption is not believable. After all one good deed doesn't negate the bad you have done, both actively or simply by doing nothing to prevent evil. It's a delicate balance and I do believe Ms. Cole did very well portraying both sides of the coin. Especially with the choice of his love interest the story took on such an interesting twist, I couldn't help but enjoy the ride.

I love the writing, the character development and the rich and unbelievably cruel world the author has created. The Hades Hangmen series is one of my all time favourites and I can not wait to read the next instalment.

“You have been the only good I’ve ever known. You’ve been the heaven I was searching for after all. Not the faith, or the prayers . . . just you . . . only you.”
