Review: Undeniably You by Jewel E. Ann

Title: Undeniably You
Author: Jewel E. Ann
Series: none
Genre: contemporary romance
One crazy dog—one awkward vet—one naked pool guy—and one life-changing month in California to make friends, fall in love, and twist fate.

Who gets paid to walk a dog and recline by the pool all day? Sydney Montgomery, aspiring museum curator and professional house-sitter, that’s who.

When her aunt and uncle need a house and dog sitter for thirty days in Palo Alto, Sydney can’t turn down the chance to be closer to her sister in L.A. Within twenty-four hours of her arrival, Sydney’s cleaning up runny dog poo, taking an uncooperative pooch to a handsome yet awkward vet, and being rescued from the bottom of the pool by a naked “pool guy.”

Lautner, “pool guy,” has a hot body and a cool persona. With eyes of iridescent blue oceans, he is mesmerizing, sexy, and addictive. What he is not—the pool guy.

Dr. Lautner Sullivan is a college wide receiver turned pediatric resident. He knows how to woo a woman with flowers, pastries, and sweet tea. Lautner is every girl’s dream, but Sydney is not every girl. She’s immune to rainbows, fairytales, pixy dust, and the “L” word.

The attraction is immediate, the friendship is earned, and the love is undeniable. Thirty days is their forever, but forever is not long enough.

A standalone Contemporary Romance novel!

MY REVIEW

Undeniably You by Jewel E. Ann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

6 **Dr. Sexy** STARS

“Don’t be afraid to fall. Sometimes the perspective we need most is from the ground.”

It just goes to show, having amazing friends with stellar reading recommendations is the most important thing in the world. Thank you very much Allison for making me read this. Best decision I made all week. I freaking LOVE THIS BOOK!

Everything about this Undeniably You was incredible. Hilarious, sexy, complicated and so deliciously angsty. Just what I needed. A well balanced read about an epic love that had to go through one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Just perfect.

One of my favourite things it to discover new authors and Jewel E. Ann was complete unknown to me. Suffice it to say, she quite easily managed to make her way onto my auto-buy list. Thank you very much.

“Boy meets girl. Boy physically feels like he’s gasping for air because the girl before him is just stunning, absolutely … breathtaking. An unfamiliar feeling seizes boy—fear. Fear that he’s taken a wrong turn for all the right reasons. Fear that the moment could slip away and for the rest of his life he’d live with the excruciating agony born from the soul-snatching ‘what if?’”

Let's talk story!

Sydney Ann Montgomery is taking a year off before she starts grad school for her art history degree and she spends her time travelling the world, house sitting and exploring the local museums. During the next month she will stay in Palo Alto to look after her aunt and uncle's house and eccentric dog, Swarley. Next stop Paris. Quite the good deal...until the 'pool-boy' knocks on the door...

Lautner Sullivan sees an opportunity, embraces it wholeheartedly and ends up skinny dipping in Syd's pool. No pun intended. He lays eyes on the beautiful girl and decides to go with the flow. Worming his way into her life. Because no one wants to be left with an 'What if?'.

To say Dr. Sexy makes a lasting impression is the understatement of the century. Pediatric resident, highly successful college football star and he thinks about the nature first. Lautner is bold, arrogant and so damn fine on the eyes. Did I mention he is a sweet talker on top? The man is the full package. Persistent and knows what he wants, but also the epitome of goodness, with the patience of a saint.

Serious book boyfriend material.

“I. Love. You. Period. It’s a goddamn soul-shattering love that will never, ever be matched. My love for you is unapologetic and forever.”

Sydney and Lautner have a whirlwind romance. Attraction at first sight that manifests itself in a battle of wills, witty - rapid fire humor filled dialogue, chai tea latte, flowers and pastries. Bottom line. They are made for each other. A match made in heaven. Fate and all that jazz, but...

A good love story doesn't work without a few minor and some more major obstacles. Such as Syd's commitment issues and career plans. Awkward vets. And a general inability to talk and bad, bad timing.

“Here’s the problem. I don’t know how to live if I’m not loving you. It’s like asking my lungs to expand without air, my heart to beat without blood, my eyes to see without light. It’s just not possible.”

Undeniably You is a sexy - funny - angsty standalone contemporary romance. There was nothing I didn't like about this book. The author fully commits to the characters and their flaws. Whereas Sydney has a hard time committing and really letting a man in, Lautner loves with all his heart, unconditionally and in spite of her flaws.

Maybe it was my mood or the gloomy day I read the second half, I embraced the drama with open arms. I loved the mixture of light hearted romance and the reality of trying to make it work. I know a lot of people felt like doing the heroine bodily harm, but I honestly understood her actions and reasoning, but that's just me. ;)

All in all, a refreshing read. It's not exactly a new concept or the reinvention of the wheel, but it clicked for me big time. The phenomenal writing and the too-good-to-be-true hero playing the biggest part here. If you haven't read a Jewel E. Ann book yet, I can honestly recommend Undeniably You.
